SCDPM 2012 R2 – Backup operation failed because the maximum allowed data source size of 825GB was exceeded (ID 100073)

Hi All,

I was on a client's site recently who use System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager to back up to Windows Azure when I came across the following error message:-

DPM Error

Solution

Turns out that backups to Windows Azure are limited to 825GB by default. In order to increase this limit to 1.65TB  you need to apply the following hotfix - http://bit.ly/1uCHygq

The hotfixes are available for both System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager and System Center 2012 Data Protection Manager SP1, but you need to ensure that your products are patched with the latest updates, including:-

http://bit.ly/1mams7D - Update Rollup 7 for System Center 2012 Data Protection Manager SP1

http://bit.ly/1u0xUBT - Update Rollup 3 for System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager

Hopefully Microsoft will increase this limit even further with their next batch of patches.

Hope this helps guys.

Neil
